A collection of creative work by my customers

"I just love your African fabrics, but what can I do with them?"

My answer, as you might expect, is pretty drastic, "Cut them it up and be creative!"

Well, that's just what many of my customers do and I'm constantly amazed at the innovative pieces they create. From quilts to clothing to bags - they are using my African fabrics to inspire their creations. Wonderful!

So, if you're proud of a textile creation that you've made using my fabrics, please email me a high quality digital image. Time permitting, I'll try to get it up on this page for everyone to admire.

Thanks

With A Little Help From Esther and Musa

Helen has been a regular customer at shows for a few years now. I've always admired her work and this king size quilt using West African batiks really is fit for a king, or queen!

Esther is one of the very talented batik dyers that I buy from in Accra. Musa dyes the special Kola nut and Indigo fabrics I buy in The Gambia.

Brenda Wroe

Brenda's inspiration for this lovely quilt was the fabrics themselves, especially the hand-dyed Kola nut and Indigo from Musa in The Gambia, as well as her own hand-dyed starburst. The quilt grew out of one of my workshops at Maison du Patchwork in France.

Freda O'Brien

Freda is one of the most prolific quilters I know, creating an amazing array of small quilts for Project Linus. She often uses colourful African fabrics in her quilts, such as these cute elephant motifs dyed by Musa in The Gambia.

Batik Bag

Sue has made some great bags using African fabrics. How about this one featuring a hand-dyed batik from The Gambia?

Janey Thompson

Gecko Wallhanging

Janey made this fun wallhanging using a piece of Musa's Gecko fabric that she bought from me at one of my annual "safaris to Norfolk".

Janey writes, "The gecko is the symbol of La Palma and this wallhanging is a gift for the smallholding owned by a friend of a friend, where I had a fab holiday last autumn."

Anna Mansi

African Squares

Anna has really used my Shwe Shwe Indigo fabrics from South Africa to great effect in this quilt. Her hand-quilting is inspired by Ghanaian symbolism.
